Who are we?

CREED was formed in 2006 as a group of people with particular experience in taking church-based projects and programmes from concept to completion.

The majority of the Creed team can be seen in this photograph, however we hope to add individual photos to the pen portraits soon.

 

 

 

CREED is made up of the following people:

Anne Brown

Anne Brown is a solicitor who has worked in general legal practice for 25 years, dealing predominantly with property and commercial matters. She has just completed an MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. She has been engaged as a policy consultant by the Church of Ireland Hard Gospel Project and, more recently, by the Law Society of Northern Ireland. She is a member of St Patrick's Parish Church, Coleraine.

Simon Brown

Simon Brown (Secretary) is a partner in an general insurance firm and has held various positions in the Youth and Community sectors for over 15 years, including Chairman of the YMCA Ireland and a former member of the YMCA World Council. As a member of Shankill Parish he has been a member of the Jethro Management Committee from 2001 and contributed to the Jethro project from design to finance.

John Kee

John is the Director of the Summer Madness Youth Festival. After a theology degree and teacher training John worked for the Southern Education and Library Board in community based youth work in Lurgan for five years. As the Youth Officer for the Church of Ireland he initiated numerous projects and then spent almost ten years as a freelance consultant working in schools, his local parish and on various regional youth initiatives. (History Makers, www.ignite.cd , Right Move Vocations Conference, 360 Discipleship Programme, etc) He is a member of Belvoir Parish Church in Belfast.

Cyril McElhinney

Cyril McElhinney MBE (Chairman) has considerable experience in major projects which include Windsor Centre, Salford, The Glenada Conference Centre, Newcastle, the Jethro Centre, Lurgan and the Catacombs, Calry Parish in Sligo. Formerly employed in the Youth Service in N. Ireland and as Parish Co-ordinator in Shankill Parish, Lurgan, Cyril served as Diocesan Secretary for 6 years in the Diocese of Elphin & Ardagh. Presently, he is a committee member of the RCB, The Methodist/Church of Ireland Covenant Council and Church 21.

Robert Miller

Robert Miller has been ordained for 12 years and currently serves as Rector of the parishes of Maghera & Killelagh in the Diocese of Derry. Robert is Chairman of the executive of the Church of Ireland Youth Department for four years, and has been involved in ministry amongst young people at a Parish, Diocesan, and national church level. After a community audit and strategic review in 2004 Robert established Maghera Parish Caring Association which currently employs six staff in full and part time community work in the parish.

Basil O’Malley

Basil is an active member of Magheralin Parish where he was Honary Treasurer for twelve years, during this period the Parish built a new Worship centre. He has been a banker for over thirty years holding senior executive roles for the last number of years .Over the years Basil has been involved in different aspects of Christian outreach including "Love your neighborhood" and drop in centres.

ERIC RAINEY

Eric is the former Director of Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (NI). He has always had and retains a wide interest and involvement in Youth and Community related activity. Eric is a member of Seymour Street Methodist Church, a Methodist Local preacher, a Deputy Lieutenant for Co. Antrim and was Awarded the CVO in 2009.

Beryl Whitehead

Berryl has worked with the South American Mission Society in Paraguay and Chile for 16 years, teaching and church planting. Since then she has served with husband Gordon in 3 parishes in 3 dioceses of the Church of Ireland.

Beryl is a Mum of 3 and a grandmother of 6 and now belongs to St. Saviour's Church, Dollingstown.
